I hate this fandom so much. HATE IT. With a bloody fucking passion.

But I absolutely love the show, Butch Hartman, and I love drawing DP Fanart, so I ignore everything about the stupid people. Or at least, try to. Amazingly, the hating around me has died down. But... as I browse the internet, I STILL see others getting bashed and arguments are always floating everywhere.

I find it weird. This fandom. It's the most controversial fandom out there. Why? I dunno. For some reason, a lot of people who are BIG fans of this show like to hate OTHER big DP-Fans for things such as OCs, ships, and the best known one, slash.

It makes no sense. Things like that are what make up a fandom. They're what make the show more interesting outside of the DP canon-world. There are fans out there who believe ALL DP-fans should keep the characters in their original style, pair them up with the person that Butch wants them to be with, and draw/write G rated pics/fics with them. Wow. Just thinking about that really... really makes me want to go to sleep. That's seriously as boring and uncreative as you can get, my friends.

Let me just take a moment to go through the parts shown in my picture. Each one of the parts show a major conflict in the show's fanbase. People argue over each one of them everyday. It's quite pathetic, really, and I can't believe I took the time to draw/write all about each one of them. But I had to get it out someday, so here we go:

1) Anime Style - Alright. We KNOW Danny Phantom isn't an anime. Every single one of us. But we draw him animefied anyway. Why? It's DEFFINATELY not because we don't like Butch's style. There are countless reasons. Some people just like to draw anime. Some just can't get the hang of Butch's style, so they resort to the one they know best, which is anime. For any reason you choose, fans draw DP in anime style because it's an escape from the normal. It's an opportunity to be creative and see what you can come up with. (Ex: How are you going to style the hair?; How are the eyes going to look?; What can you do to make the character look realistic, yet still look the way he/she is supposed to?)

2) Canon Couples - It's like this: There are fans who support these couples so strongly that if you don't support them too, you're ultimately considered an "Anti-Phan." It doesn't matter if you prefer Tucker x Sam, and it doesn't matter that it's a straight pairing either. IT'S NOT CANON. So fuck you. Attitudes like that are everywhere, and it's ridiculous. DannyxSam and DannyxValerie fans are perfectly fine, and I support the couples myself, but if you're one of those people who like to shove your couples up others' asses and tell them to go die, I really would like for you to stop everything that you're doing, go to the highest level of your house, preferably the roof, and fall headfirst. Maybe it will knock enough sense into you to realize that it's a cartoon, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

3) OCs - Okay, I couldn't think up an OC on mah own, so the OC I drew is an over-exaggerated drawing of me. I look NOTHING like that. I'm way too ugly to be that... thing. It looks quite slutty, tho, yes? ANYWAY. OCs. I'm not a big fan of OCs, but that does NOT mean that I tell people "omg get a life!!!!11one stop writin/drawin stuff with yur mary sue person!1" . . . what the fuck. Uh, okay. So maybe some of you who bash OCs don't type like that. But it doesn't matter how you type it, you shouldn't say shit like, "Your OC sucks. Stop making them be part of Danny Phantom. They're never going to be in the show, so get over it and go play in traffic." Uh huh. Ya see, that comment was stupid. The person who MADE the OC KNOWS their character isn't going to be in the show! wtf THAT'S WHY THEY MAKE THE FANART/FANFICS. Jesus. How about YOU go play in traffic, you silly little basher. 8D

4) Slash - Here it is. The BIG ONE. The one that causes THE most problems in ALL of Danny Phantomville. Why do so many people not like DPSlash? Well, the biggest reason is "Butch Hartman doesn't like it, so if the Almighty One doesn't like it, we're not going to like it either!! *angry mob*". My reply to that is this: Don't you people have minds of your own? Who CARES if Butch doesn't like it! I don't care, and I'm in LOVE with the man. He's fucking AWESOME. But just because HE doesn't like it, doesn't mean I'm gonna say, "Well SHIT Let me just take down all of this slash artwork with his characters and post some crap that I don't even like. And while I'm at it, I'm going to go bash the HELL out of people who have yet to take their DPSlash stuff off the internet too! IT ALL NEEDS TO BURN IN HELL BECAUSE BUTCH SAID 'ME NO LIKEY GAY STUFF'." ...Butch is not God. He's an animator, mkay? Mkay. I completely understand why he is against it and the fact that he doesn't like his characters put into those sorts of situations. But he should have known that when you get into the animating business and make a show, there WILL be a fandom, and there WILL be slash. It's been around since the 70s, and it's more than likely not going anywhere.

So, let's continue. A lot of you are wondering, "Well, why do people draw/write slash anyway?" Why do we do it? Because it's different, that's why. Because it gives us a chance to look at the show in a totally different point of view. It's thinking outside of the box. Sure, we have plenty of hints of DannyxSam, and some scattered here and there with DannyxValerie, but what if we dug deeper than that? What if we looked at it in a way where there were twice as many plot ideas than there should be? Not everything has to be explicitly said and shown. To us, if you only took what Butch gave you, you're not being creative. We know Danny and his Phantom are one person. We know Danny hates Vlad, as well as Dash. We know that Vlad and Jack are just college buddies. WE KNOW. Some of you act as though we didn't even give THOUGHT to those things... But back to the point, slash gives a show a whole other universe to explore.
So, after my explanation, I want to say this: You don't have to like it, but it would be extremely nice if we could all just accept it. If you don't like slash, but you suddenly come upon a pic/fic with slash in it, simply click the back browser and please don't waste your time making such a useless comment on the work.

To conclude everything that has been said... no matter what you support, draw, or write that has to do with Danny Phantom... you are a fan. This is the only fandom that has horribly stupid wars within it's own fanbase. It's dumb. So please. Treat each other with respect! You all have one thing in common, and it's your love for the show and Butch Hartman.

Isn't that all that matters?
